Game Plans

Sundays:

A set of games I can play while watching the other streamers on the multistream and interacting with chat. Must fit the format of shorter (2-hour) streams.

  • Super Mario (current: Odyssey)

  • Picross S (when I need a break: S2)

  • Power Wash Simulator (between games)

Choice Games:

A set of games I really want to play, whether by express choice or a sense of obligation. Twitch viewers can populate this with a points redemption. Presently, I am finishing series that I started earlier and then gained further access to series entries after finishing the set.

This set is on Mondays & Saturdays.

  • Final Fantasy

  • The Legend of Zelda (on deck: Twilight Princess)

  • Metroid

  • Pokemon
  • Wonder Boy
  • Xenoblade Chronicles (current: X Definitive Edition)

Event Games/Etc.:

Games and other streams voted on by the community for certain events. Most often, this is for annual events such as my Twitch Affiliate anniversary and my streaming anniversary, or as a break between finishing game series. There can be more of these if Twitch subscription milestones are hit.

  • Between Twitch series: model building
  • First Saturday monthly: Hollow Knight Randomizer

WHO ARE WE?

The end of the game is not when you want to be having an existential crisis.

Despite only having two options per dialog box, this game gives you plenty of opportunity to express a personality. For the most part, I've been playing a compassionate and generally agreeable person since I do want to experience all the content. But I get that it also makes Luke sound like he has no opinions. The point is that he's in it for every last bit of story or lore he can grab, and you don't get that by declining missions or being a jerk. (Not that he is a jerk.) That said, he definitely would be declining a lot of these missions if asked to do something like them outside the game.

A few of today's missions are about identity, particularly the latter ones. The Zaruboggan is lighthearted, Alexa is… Alexa, and I can't be too upset over reprogramming Fortun. But what is up with Yelv?! The scene with Eleanora implies there are several copies of the man. At my most generous guess, he's not actually a human at all, and actually an AI that Eleanora is helping to give a human personality. But the framing is more sinister (the camera actually shakes during the pan up), and it implies that he's a person that's been brainwashed. I really hope it's the former, or something like it, anyway.

When I played this game on the WiiU, I never looked up anything. I also finished the game around level 50, so plenty of these late-game missions are things I've never seen before. The one with Erio and Fortun makes me really glad the level cap was raised, since you can't take a Skell into the cave and everything is over level 50 (and so would always aggro you). Now, with enough grinding, most things will ignore me. The Follow Ball also originally didn't leave a trail, so it's now way easier to find things like the cave entrance. That said, it's really frustrating to have a recommended level that you've surpassed and it's still too hard to finish the mission. Part of that problem might be my current class, and another part might be me just not understanding the combat system. As much as I try to make combos in games, they frequently require better setups than I discover without help. It's really frustrating when that blocks story, but less so for superbosses that I can just not fight. This isn't a superboss, but it is no longer near the level cap, so I think I'll be fine. Eventually.
