Game Plans

Sundays:

A set of games I can play while watching the other streamers on the multistream and interacting with chat. Must fit the format of shorter (2-hour) streams.

  • Super Mario (current: Odyssey)

  • Picross S (when I need a break: S2)

  • Power Wash Simulator (between games)

Choice Games:

A set of games I really want to play, whether by express choice or a sense of obligation. Twitch viewers can populate this with a points redemption. Presently, I am finishing series that I started earlier and then gained further access to series entries after finishing the set.

This set is currently on weekdays.

  • The Legend of Zelda (on deck: Twilight Princess)

  • Pokemon
  • Wonder Boy
  • Xenoblade Chronicles (current: X Definitive Edition)

Poll Games:

A set of games selected by viewer poll. I try to run entire series before moving to the next.

This set is currently on Saturdays.

  • Final Fantasy (current: Romancing SaGa 2)
  • Metroid (on deck: Zero Mission)

Event Games/Etc.:

Games and other streams voted on by the community for certain events. Most often, this is for annual events such as my Twitch Affiliate anniversary and my streaming anniversary, or as a break between finishing game series. There can be more of these if Twitch subscription milestones are hit.

  • Between Choice series: model building
  • First Saturday monthly: Hollow Knight Randomizer

KONG OF THE RUINS

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD - https://youtu.be/IfpRHo74gDw

I hope I don't eat my words about never getting a game over.

I feel the difficulty stepping up, but I still beat the same number of levels. However, unlike with Tropical Freeze (where I hit 99 lives by the end of the first world and then never dipped below 90 for the rest of the game), I'm actually using all the lives I'm picking up! And not just on the K levels! Beating 3-K first try was surprising. I don't actually remember hardly any of the levels. This is reminding me of how little I recalled of Bravely Second…

The time trials going first was definitely the right move. However, DKCR is now the highest-effort editing I've ever done for a game. Most games, the editing only takes me about an hour. DKCR took me about four hours to edit this time. I hope that, at least, improves in pacing with time. I've got the pattern down now: find the frame where I collect a thing, then subtract five seconds and it's the start of the clip. +10 seconds to make a ten-second clip. The challenge comes when those clips overlap, in which case I am thankful for my undo button, but it still takes time.

I have a total of six streams prior to starting up my event set of streams with Xenoblade. (Event starts Feb. 17, Emilie's birthday and about three days off from my Twitch Affiliate Anniversary.) So far, I've done about a world and a half each stream, and including the unlock for doing all K levels, this game has 9 worlds. (Tropical Freeze did the same but with only 7 worlds.) If I keep up the pace, I'll get the game done exactly in time for the event. If I don't… then I guess I'll have to come back to this game after Xenoblade, however long that takes. I'm not putting off Xenoblade. And if this game has a Hard Mode like Tropical Freeze, I'll do it, though I definitely won't be able to get that done prior to Xenoblade. There's not nearly enough time.
