Game Plans

Sundays:

A set of games I can play while watching the other streamers on the multistream and interacting with chat. Must fit the format of shorter (2-hour) streams.

  • Super Mario (current: Odyssey)

  • Picross S (when I need a break: S2)

  • Power Wash Simulator (between games)

Choice Games:

A set of games I really want to play, whether by express choice or a sense of obligation. Twitch viewers can populate this with a points redemption. Presently, I am finishing series that I started earlier and then gained further access to series entries after finishing the set.

This set is on Mondays & Saturdays.

  • Final Fantasy

  • The Legend of Zelda (on deck: Twilight Princess)

  • Metroid

  • Pokemon
  • Wonder Boy
  • Xenoblade Chronicles (current: X Definitive Edition)

Event Games/Etc.:

Games and other streams voted on by the community for certain events. Most often, this is for annual events such as my Twitch Affiliate anniversary and my streaming anniversary, or as a break between finishing game series. There can be more of these if Twitch subscription milestones are hit.

  • Between Twitch series: model building
  • First Saturday monthly: Hollow Knight Randomizer

INNER WORKINGS

Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour - https://youtu.be/rXiWcxSwAx4

Okay, this software definitely should have come with the system.

Over the course of the past [days since release], I've seen Welcome Tour referred to with a number of monikers besides the title's self-identified "showcase." "Demo" and "instruction manual" are probably the most accurate among them, and it's the latter of these two that the software most felt like for some of the Insights, particularly the ones with the dock, mic and system memory. It's definitely good to know not to stick the dock on a rug, and that I should be saving games to system memory (rather than SD card) if I want them to load faster!

Playing all those minigames has me thinking about possible uses of the mouse controls. (The camera & mic of the DS have been used both well and poorly and I don't expect a lot from them. The remapping of buttons is especially unlikely to be used in games.) Basically anywhere the pointer was used for the Wii is a standard opportunity; I'd like to see a patch for Switch Zelda and Metroid titles that use the mouse, just as they did for balloon popping here. After all, they already advertised doing that for Metroid Prime 4! On top of that, there's mouse usage for Mario Maker, and possible another Star Fox game. Star Fox Zero had roughly the same kind of difficulty as the Twin UFOs, with aiming your turret on the GamePad and moving your ship on the TV. It would be slightly easier to have the left mouse move your ship and the right aim your turret.

One last item where I'm interested in possible use is the speaker-like qualities of HD Rumble 2. Super Mario Odyssey used HD Rumble for ground pound moons, but with the speaker effects you could do sirens of hot/cold, or other useful things. I can't capture such audio for streaming, but neither can I capture normal rumble, so it's not that bad. I wonder if it'll be used at all?
