FLOODS OF ITEMS
Hollow Knight Archipelago - https://youtu.be/uLz2uD370BU
When someone finishes a game, we get everything left in it, and sometimes that means death traps.
The special thing for this round was "deathlink", which means that if you die, so does everyone else. As if that wasn't hard enough, the game also added a bunch of death traps that just kill everyone when you pick up the random item. For some reason, these tended to go off right before I sat on a bench, so I had maximum backtracking, of course. This is also why I had two deaths before even starting. As I wrote in the chat, someone accidentally included a game they had no intention of playing, so the leader "released" every item in the game, which was a few nice items and two death traps. In Hollow Knight, deathlink only makes a shade if you don't already have one, so at least I don't have to worry so much about losing all my cash. I'm decent enough at this game that that's not really a problem. The hardest stuff is all in dreams (including White Palace!) and dying in a dream has very little consequence in Hollow Knight.
The reason death traps didn't go off very much after the start of the game is that there are also "death trap shields" in the mix. And I get the feeling there was an equal number of those to the number of death traps, because we had an abundance of shields for most of the game. If you have a shield and find a trap, it just cancels the shield and doesn't kill everyone. Now, I think 38 deaths is quite enough, but since the game is supposed to last 12 hours for next month's event, I can see why DesignationV thought that he should get rid of a few shields. Though to be honest, I'd be totally fine with the event not lasting 12 hours.
This time, at least I wasn't waiting on myself. Most of my critical items were in other people's games, with the exception of Isma's Tear. I'm pretty sure that was the only major item I got for myself. Most of the rest of gathering things for myself was just cash, which is apparently really important in seeds like this one! That was a lot in the shops. I've never been so short on cash in a run where geo rocks were randomized. Getting critical stuff when people finished games was a little less expected, but I guess it's not that improbable.
