Game Plans

Sundays:

A set of games I can play while watching the other streamers on the multistream and interacting with chat. Must fit the format of shorter (2-hour) streams.

  • Super Mario (current: Odyssey)

  • Picross S (when I need a break: S2)

  • Power Wash Simulator (between games)

Choice Games:

A set of games I really want to play, whether by express choice or a sense of obligation. Twitch viewers can populate this with a points redemption. Presently, I am finishing series that I started earlier and then gained further access to series entries after finishing the set.

This set is currently on weekdays.

  • The Legend of Zelda (on deck: Twilight Princess)

  • Pokemon
  • Wonder Boy
  • Xenoblade Chronicles (current: X Definitive Edition)

Poll Games:

A set of games selected by viewer poll. I try to run entire series before moving to the next.

This set is currently on Saturdays.

  • Final Fantasy (current: Romancing SaGa 2)
  • Metroid (on deck: Zero Mission)

Event Games/Etc.:

Games and other streams voted on by the community for certain events. Most often, this is for annual events such as my Twitch Affiliate anniversary and my streaming anniversary, or as a break between finishing game series. There can be more of these if Twitch subscription milestones are hit.

  • Between Choice series: model building
  • First Saturday monthly: Hollow Knight Randomizer

COMPLETION ACROSS TIME

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D: Master Quest - https://youtu.be/ub5yKsHibZ8

Not only did I do the hard mode, but I got everything in it.

Where did I hear about Ice Arrows and Iron Boots being swapped? On some trivia video I watched just before I started streaming Master Quest. I have to say, it makes sense, given the object interactions (and honestly, Ice Arrows in Ice Cavern just makes more sense). Why else would Ice Arrows freeze traps, other than to use them in the Water Temple on that ramp up to the top? Technically, you can still get Ice Arrows before the Water Temple is complete, at least on normal mode. Master Quest has keys in different locations, and a lot fewer of them. I don't think you can actually get the Ice Arrows until you've at least gotten the dungeon items from both Shadow and Spirit Temple, and you can't enter the former of those until you've beaten Water Temple.

It stinks that I had to look up where to find both the final skulltulas and the final three heart pieces, but I really don't know Ocarina of Time's 100% all that well. I think that might be the first time I've ever gotten all the skulltulas: that reward for doing so is really useless. The heart pieces are almost all outside of dungeons (all but one), so it's actually almost exactly the same finding them in normal mode as Master Quest. I just didn't recall those locations, either. To be clear, I wasn't really remembering where to find pretty much any of those items as I went. Major upgrades, yes. But collectibles among many, no. I just have a good idea how the game is put together, and an intuition on where to look.

And finally, we reach the end of the story of the first 3D Zelda title. It leads directly into three others, with implied continuity with Breath of the Wild (see: mentions of Ruto). Skyward Sword is long before, and there actually aren't all that many 3D Zelda titles. As we know from Wind Waker, that seal on Ganondorf didn't hold forever―though to be fair, Zelda implied that it wouldn't even in this game. It just stinks that she apparently didn't warn anyone. Maybe she thought another Link would show up eventually. Too bad the Triforce of Courage had shattered and the hero was a long time delayed. Sending Link to the past likewise averted crisis… though again temporarily. We'll see how that played out in another game, which would be immediately following this one if not for the game that I want to stream next. Instead, it's probably a few months away. Hold on until then, Link!
