Game Plans

Sundays:

A set of games I can play while watching the other streamers on the multistream and interacting with chat. Must fit the format of shorter (2-hour) streams.

  • Super Mario (current: Odyssey)

  • Picross S (when I need a break: S2)

  • Power Wash Simulator (between games)

Choice Games:

A set of games I really want to play, whether by express choice or a sense of obligation. Twitch viewers can populate this with a points redemption. Presently, I am finishing series that I started earlier and then gained further access to series entries after finishing the set.

This set is currently on weekdays.

  • The Legend of Zelda (on deck: Twilight Princess)

  • Pokemon
  • Wonder Boy
  • Xenoblade Chronicles (current: X Definitive Edition)

Poll Games:

A set of games selected by viewer poll. I try to run entire series before moving to the next.

This set is currently on Saturdays.

  • Final Fantasy (current: Romancing SaGa 2)
  • Metroid (on deck: Zero Mission)

Event Games/Etc.:

Games and other streams voted on by the community for certain events. Most often, this is for annual events such as my Twitch Affiliate anniversary and my streaming anniversary, or as a break between finishing game series. There can be more of these if Twitch subscription milestones are hit.

  • Between Choice series: model building
  • First Saturday monthly: Hollow Knight Randomizer

CATCHING UP

Super Mario Odyssey - https://youtu.be/OtSCAdiqITc

Bowser has cannons and is not afraid to use them.

Let's be honest, what did Mario think was going to happen? That Bowser would just give up after getting trounced? Any series veteran knows that Bowser doesn't give up even if he gets bathed in lava, much less just getting slammed into a barbed wall. His back is protected by a huge shell!

I don't really have great opportunities to talk about it, but I've watched a few speedruns of this game, particularly the Minimum Captures runs. Which are nuts. People have worked out how to use two-player mode to warp from a painting into the main section of Metro Kingdom (I haven't used any paintings, but they're warps between kingdoms so you can get single moons) before it is in the "nighttime" mode that you normally get on arrival. With that jump, you can then get so many moons from daytime Metro that upon the regular arrival you can immediately leave. Because doing nighttime Metro requires a few captures and the goal is to bypass that entirely. There's even more insane skips later on, but let's just start with the so-called "impossible jump" to skip a wire down into Metro and say that Minimum Captures does a few of those going up.

I like how imaginative the Mario team was with this game. They've used most of the same themes as the kingdoms in this game before, but now it's all in 3D and they've got those little travel guides to boot. And they even wrote a bit of a story in to justify why Bowser has gone to each kingdom, rather than just along the lines of "Well, this place exists," which is pretty much what we normally get in any non-RPG entry.
